We’re a group of visionary professionals committed to systematically advance the healthcare system in the region, found a not-for-profit, non-governmental institute: Healthcare Platform Institute (HPI).

 

Our vision in HPI is to create better access to quality health services through a stronger health system; and our mission is working toward an efficient, proficient, stronger health system that is based on evidence-based management. Thus, we’ve designed the institute to work as a platform to assemble the advocates for this vision and mission with a focus on the Kurdistan Region for achieving HPI‘s objectives.

Assessments & Researching

Conducting researches, assessment reports, white papers, capacity assessments, performance assessments, data analysis, and surveys that are tailored to the region’s healthcare system in the fields of healthcare administration, healthcare management, healthcare economy, health services practices, and health policy issues.

Rasing Awareness

Conduct conferences, symposiums, panels, debates, and publishing scientific articles and reports to raise awareness and attract the attention of public officials and policymakers to the outstanding issues and problems within the health system.

Healthcare Planning 

HPI helps gornmental, non-governmental, and private organizations in developing systamic and scientific strategic, operational, and business planning.  

Consultancy 

HPI offers consultation for healthcare organizations and private companies such as hospitals and health agencies for health service startup and improvement plans.

Capacity Building

Conduct training courses and workshops for capacity buidling in the fields of healthcare management, health administration, and soft skills.

Healthcare Solutions

Designing framwoks for custom solution software application and systems , such as Electronic Health Records, healthcare ERPs, Clinic Management Systems, hospital management system, and other user-based health applications.  

Advocacy 

Promote implementation of the policies that are concluded from the researches, in the legislative and executive agencies.

Professional Collaborations

Cooperate with and consult the international academic experts and cooperation with the international institutes and universities within the field of health services.

Dr. Alexander Dawoody
Chairman

 Professor/ Director of the MPA and PhD Programs

Dr. Dawoody holds PhD in Public Affairs and Administration (Western Michigan University);Master of Arts in Philosophy (Western Michigan University); Master of Public Administration (Suffolk University-Boston); Master of Health Administration (Suffolk University-Boston);  Master of Education (Cambridge College, Mass.); Bachelor of Arts in Human Service Management (UMass-Boston); and, Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (UMAss Boston).

Dr. Rebin M. Ahmed
Founder & President

A physician and Healthcare Administrator (MD, MHSA, FACHE)

Dr. Rebin holds bachelor of Medicine and General Surgery from College of Medicine-Hawler Medical University, Master of Health Service Administration from Marywood University, PA, USA, and is board certified in Healthcare Management by American College of Healthcare Executives, IL, USA, with 10 years of experience in management and administration and has numerous blogs and publications in different areas of healthcare administration. Dr. Ahmed is serving the 2020-2021 term as a member of the International Liaisons Committee of American College of Healthcare Executives.

Dr. Bjar M. Ali
Co-founder & Vice-President

Dr. Bjar Musa holds bachelors degree in medicine and general surgery (M.B.Ch.B) from Hawler Medical University, and  Master's Degree in Business Administration. He has been working with humanitarian organizations and has been an active member of IFMSA. He has significant experience in working and advocating to strength health system in the region.

Dr. Bestun M. Ahmed
Co-founder 

An Internist Physician
Dr. Bestun has graduated from Hawler Medical University in 2009, and completed medical training in Kurdistan hospitals, then has studied postgraduate degree studies in the UK. He has obtained an MD in Internal Medicine from the University of Buckingham in 2015, and worked with NHS until late 2016 . He has been working for the Ministry of Health (MoH) as a specialist physician in the hospitals. He has experience in working with UNICEF for two years until February 2019, Recently joined World Vision (WV) Iraq as Health Adviser, in addition to the technical inputs, he is working on sustainable solutions and health system strengthening. His main areas of experience are designing programs in humanitarian contexts.

Dr. Aaron Epstein

President and Founder of GSMSG

Dr. Epstein has graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine,  and holds master’s degree in in Security Studies and Intelligence from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, bachelor’s degree in International Policy Studies and Economics from Rice University. Dr. Epstein is the founder and president of Global Surgical and Medical Support Group (GSMSG), that has supported health system in the Kurdistan Region, and he is also Fulbright Specialist in Global Healthcare Development and Security, State University of New York – Buffalo, USA, Department of Surgery House Staff Physician/General Surgery, Part-time. 

Dalzar Othman

Dalzar Othman is a pharmacist that is skilled in management and P&L track record of sustained delivery, innovative and complex market of Iraq. He has  managed a wide range of reputable companies of different origins (Europe, USA, Middle East), such as MSD, Amgen, supplying more than 50 warehouses, covering more than 450 pharmacies Specialties.
